New Delhi: The teaser of Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra starrer ‘Amar Singh Chamkila ‘ is out today ( May 30). The film features the story of legendary Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila, directed by renowned filmmaker Imtiaz Ali. The teaser itself half generated curiosity among the movie buffs, as for the first time Diljit will be seen in his no-turban look. Makers have decided to release the film on the OTT platform Netflix in 2024 but the date has not been revealed yet.
Netflix has dropped the teaser on its instagram handle writing ‘Jo naam saalon se aapke dil aur dimaag pe chaaya hai woh ab aapke saamne aaya hai’. The film is about the untold story of Punjab’s highest chart-topping artist Amar Singh Chamkila. As the teaser begins, it shows a warm welcome of Amar Singh at an event, he has been introduced as a popular star who holds a special place in the hearts of his fans. Then the next scene shows Diljit greeting the masses along with a melodious song playing in the background. The film also features Rahul Mittra in a key role.
The film presents the biography of a famous 80’s rockstar Amar Singh Chamkila who had emerged from the stage of Poverty to fame of popularity due to the power of music which finally led to his assassination at the very young age of 27. Amar Singh is still considered the most loved live stage performer that Punjab has produced. As soon as the trailer got out the comment section got flooded with hearts and fire emoticons. The director of the film Imtiaz Ali has also expressed his happiness and his journey of making the film on the life of an iconic star.
