“@NCWIndia has taken cognizance. Chairperson @sharmarekha has written to DGP Rajasthan to personally look into the matter and investigate the allegations of misbehavior and assault made by women against police officers. Detailed Action Taken Report (ATR) from must be informed.” NCW,” the official handle of the National Commission for Women tweeted on Thursday.
The reaction of the National Commission for Women came in the wake of reports that widows of martyrs have sought permission to end their own lives.
Protesting widows seek permission to end their own lives
BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Kirori Lal Meena on Saturday (March) said that the widows of three CRPF personnel killed in the 2019 Pulwama terror attack accused the Rajasthan government of not fulfilling its promises made to them and urged Governor Kalraj Mishra to sought permission to end his own life. 4).
Meena has been sitting on a dharna in Jaipur with the families of the martyrs for the last few days.
He went to the Raj Bhavan to submit a memorandum to the Governor along with the wives of CRPF jawans who were martyred in the Pulwama attack.
After coming out of the Raj Bhavan, he started moving towards the Chief Minister’s residence and the police stopped him.
Meena alleged that the women were pushed by the policemen in which Rohitashv Lamba’s widow Manju Jat was injured and admitted to the hospital.
The BJP leader said that instead of fulfilling the demands of the families of the martyrs, the state government was resorting to dictatorship. “Police manhandled them even when they were protesting at the assembly gate recently,” he alleged.
The families of the martyrs of Meena and Pulwama terror attacks submitted a memorandum to the Raj Bhavan in which Manju Jat, Madhubala, Sundari Devi and Renu Singh sought permission for euthanasia.
Rajasthan Chief Minister’s reaction
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday hit out at the BJP, saying some of its leaders were insulting the widows of martyrs and using them for political mileage.
The relatives of three CRPF jawans killed in the 2019 Pulwama terror attack arrived at Congress leader Sachin Pilot’s residence and demanded a meeting with the party high command, accusing the state government of not fulfilling the promises made to them.
Without directly naming BJP Rajya Sabha MP Kirori Lal Meena, who was sitting on a dharna with the widows of the martyrs, Gehlot said in a statement, “Some BJP leaders are using the wives of the martyrs for political gains and insulting them.” . mileage. This has never been the tradition of Rajasthan. I condemn it.
The demands of the widows include installation of statues of martyred jawans, providing jobs to their kin on compassionate grounds and construction of roads in their villages.
Gehlot said in his statement that the widow of Hemraj Meena, who was martyred in the attack, wants to install the third statue, while two others are already installed in the Government College Sangod and a park in his native village Vinod Kalan.
“Keeping in mind the families of other martyrs, such a demand is not justified,” the chief minister said in a statement in Hindi. Rohitash Lamba’s wife is seeking a job for her brother-in-law on compassionate grounds, but if she gets a job, then the relatives or relatives of all the widows of the martyrs will start putting undue pressure on them.
“Should we create such a difficult situation in front of the wives of the martyrs because the rules made at present are made on the basis of past experiences. How can it be justified to deprive the children of the martyrs of their rights and give jobs to others?” What will happen when the children of the martyrs grow up?’
