Rajnath Singh, Navy Chief and other commanders to discuss future warfare at INS Vikrant tomorrow
Naval Commanders’ Conference: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, the Navy Chief and over 20 commanders of the Indian Navy will discuss the future of warfare on board the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, from operations to logistics and the Agneepath plan. The presence of Chinese ships in the South China Sea and Indian Ocean is increasing day by day. The Navy Chief assured that they are monitoring the situation. At present the concern is Indian Navy, Supremacy, Operational Capability, Logistics also increase and power demonstration under Make in India.
The conference has been attended by more than 20 Naval Commanders including the Commander, Andaman Nicobar Command. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will address the first session on March 6 at 10 am. The decision to hold the conference aboard INS Vikrant came in the wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s long vision that commanders’ conferences should not be confined to Delhi only. It should move to another operational area. Earlier in 2015, the Naval Commander’s Conference was held at INS Vikramaditya. Six months after the induction of INS Vikrant, it is now the turn.
All senior officers along with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will board the aircraft carrier in Goa on March 6 to attend the biennial Naval Commanders’ Conference. Only the inaugural day of the five-day conference will be held at sea. The main focus of this discussion is the Agneepath scheme and the lady of Agneepath who is also known as Agniveer. Along with this, the discussions in the conference will include issues related to operations, combat readiness, logistics, training, human resource development, jointness and training.
While developments in the Indian Ocean region, where China seeks to increase its presence, are also likely to be discussed, such summits are rarely held on board warships. In December 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a joint commanders’ meeting aboard India’s other aircraft carrier, INS Vikramaditya, off the Kochi coast. This was the first time that a joint commanders’ conference, involving top officials from all three services, was held on board an aircraft carrier. Modi has been in favor of organizing important events outside the national capital.
INS Vikrant has its own strategic importance hence trying to do takeoff and landing for DRDO and others or with its own fighter aircraft including light combat aircraft, Tejas Marine variant as well as this Russian origin, mig29 Kand And successfully took off on INS Vikrant. So now there is a fight to get more fighter jets for Navy hence long competition and big competition between French Rafale Marine Virgin and F18 Super Hornet. This modernization and manufacturing in India will also be part of the discussion at the Commanders’ Conference.
