PATNA: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Monday asked officials to ensure supply of enough irrigation waters to all farmlands across the state at any cost by 2025.
Chairing a meeting to review progress under the “Har Khet Tak Sinchai Ka Pani Nischay Yojana” at ‘Sankalp’ hall of the CM residence here, Nitish also asked the officials to ensure a proper survey under the Chief Minister Tube Well Scheme so that no farmland is left uncovered under the scheme and all farmers get benefits of irrigation waters under the Sinchai Ka Pani Nischay Yojana.
Addressing the officials at the review meeting, the CM said the decision to provide irrigation water to every agricultural land was taken during a meeting in early 2021. “Then, we held a detailed meeting over the scheme and decided to ensure supply of irrigation waters to all agricultural lands,” he said.
The CM further asked the officials to take all necessary steps to ensure supply of irrigation waters to all farmlands as early as possible. “Work on this scheme at a faster pace and supply irrigation waters to all agricultural lands at the earliest,” he said.
Nitish also said that his government has taken several other steps under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan to maintain the water table of groundwaters in different districts and protect the environment.
Earlier, the additional chief secretary (minor water resources department) Parmar Ravi Manubhai, through a presentation, gave detailed information about the progress made under the scheme to the CM. He also gave detailed information to the CM about the Chief Minister Tube Well Scheme.
