RANCHI: The Ranchi regional office of the India meteorological department (IMD) on Monday issued a yellow alert for all the 24 districts in the state for the next two days as it predicted isolated thunder showers accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 40 kilometres an hour.
The weather office also predicted isolated rains accompanied by thunder and lightning across 20 districts in the state (barring parts of Santhal Pargana) on Tuesday. Isolated rains are also expected in all the districts on Wednesday, it said. “The rainy spell is likely to occur under the influence of a cyclonic circulation which lies over Gangetic West Bengal and its neighbourhood as on Monday,” the IMD said.
However, the weather office also predicted a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by four degrees over the next four days. Ranchi, the state capital, witnessed a brief assimilation of clouds over its skyline on Monday afternoon. However, rain remained elusive so far.
The IMD, however, issued alerts for light to moderate rain in some parts of Bokaro, Deoghar, Dhanbad, Giridih, Gumla, Hazaribag, Khunti, Ramgarh, West Singhbhum, and Seraikela-Kharsawan. Giridih recorded 9.5mm rains till 5:30pm on Monday, while Latehar recorded 7.5mm rain, the weather office said in its evening bulletin.
