Kumar made the statement during the government’s reply to the debate on the Governor’s address to the joint session of both houses of the state legislature.

Kumar said he told the Defense Minister that the matter was being probed and appropriate action would be taken.

BJP legislators staged a walkout during the day to protest against the arrest of Raj Kapoor Singh, whose son Jai Kishore Singh, a soldier of the Bihar Regiment, was killed fighting Chinese troops in the Galwan clash.

Singh, a resident of Chakfatah village under Jandaha police station area of Vaishali district, was arrested on Saturday after his neighbor Harinath Ram lodged a complaint objecting to the “illegal” construction of the slain soldier’s memorial.

Singh, who is in jail, has been booked under the Scheduled Castes/Tribes Act, and according to reports in a section of the press, he was dragged away by the police personnel who arrested him.

Though the district police denied any such misconduct, the state police headquarters ordered an inquiry into the episode and assured action against any officer found guilty.
