Father of soldier killed in Galwan clash was thrashed, arrested for building memorial for son, family claims

Family members alleged that the father of a soldier who lost his life in the 2020 clash in Galwan Valley was beaten up and later arrested by the police over a land dispute in Bihar. Soldier Jai Kishore Singh’s father was beaten up for building a memorial for his son on government land in Bihar’s Vaishali, news agency ANI reported on Tuesday.

Speaking to ANI, Singh’s brother alleged, “DSP ma’am had visited and asked us to remove the idol within 15 days. Later the SHO came to our house and arrested my father and also beat him up.” He also said that he works as an armed forces personnel.

The case pertains to a dispute at Jandah in Vaishali where “in January, a case was registered under the Scheduled Castes/Tribes Act for installing an idol on the land of Hari Nath Ram and on government land in the district … Later, The boundary walls of the statue were made to build.In this case, the rights of the landlords are being violated due to illegal encroachment.

On June 15, 2020, near the Line of Actual Control in Eastern Ladakh, 20 bravehearts of the Indian Army made the supreme sacrifice in the Galwan Valley conflict.
