A police officer of Jandaha police station said on Tuesday that in front of Harinath’s land, he forcibly built a memorial on the government plot. The matter took an ugly turn on January 23 when Harinath filed a written complaint against Singh at the Jandaha police station for allegedly encroaching on his as well as some part of the village land on the way to his house. After investigation, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Mahua, Poonam Keshari asked the martyr’s father to shift the memorial as it was built on government land by encroaching a portion of the village road and that too within the jurisdiction of the authorities. without permission from Concerned.
As the martyr’s father refused to move the monument, he was arrested.
The SDPO said, “The martyr’s father was repeatedly requested to shift the memorial as it was built on government land and was encroaching on a part of the village road and the way to Harinath. Paas has huge land near the monument, but he preferred to build the structure in front of his rival’s land, leading to encroachment and dispute between the two groups.”
The opposition BJP in Bihar on Tuesday objected to the arrest of a martyr’s father for building a memorial for his son who laid down his life for the country. State BJP spokesperson Nikhil Anand alleged that the incident smacked of the government’s “disrespect” towards the armed forces.
He said, “Recently, a minister had made derogatory remarks about the armed forces. We demand that the Mahagathbandhan government should respect the sacrifice of our brave soldiers and all those coming from the state and killed in the Galwan clash Memorials should be made for the people.”
