Inspector General of Police (IG) (Home Guards and Fire Services) Vikas Vaibhav has been transferred to the Bihar police headquarters, according to a notification issued by the state home department on Monday evening, for publicly airing his grievances against his department head, the director. Shobha Ohotkar, the General (DG) of Police, a few days after the broadcast.

Besides Vaibhav, Deputy IG Vinod Kumar of the same department has also been transferred to the police headquarters under the same notification, which did not specify any reason.
Earlier, the Home Department had issued a show-cause notice to Vaibhav, seeking an explanation from him regarding his tweet, which allegedly violated the Official Secrets Act by making public the details of the departmental meeting.
In tweets earlier this month, Vaibhav had accused Ohotkar of humiliating him in the meeting and said he had “the recording too”. The 2003 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer had later deleted the tweet.
Vaibhav had also applied for leave of two months or transfer out of the department.
