In the past, patients in government hospitals were often served poor quality food, including watery “dal” and poorly cooked curry. However, things have improved significantly with the introduction of ‘Didi’s Rasoi’, run by Jeevika workers. These workers follow dietician’s recommendations to ensure that patients receive good quality food in government hospitals in the bihar.
As a result of the initiative’s success, the state government has decided to introduce the facility to more government hospitals. The inauguration of six more hospitals will be led by Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, who also holds the health portfolio. The six hospitals where the facility will be introduced are Bhagwan Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences-Pawapuri, Jannayak Karpoori Thakur Medical College and Hospital-Madhepura, and four sub-divisional hospitals. Currently, the facility is available at 67 health centres across the state.
Patients are served three meals daily along with evening snacks, as confirmed by Jeevika’s chief executive officer, Rahul Kumar.
