New Delhi: The rain has increased the wait for a team to emerge as a winner of IPL 2023 as May 28 was washed off. Gujarat Titans will now face Chennai Super Kings on the reserve day today, on May 29 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. As the game shifts to a reserve day, it is important to note the weather conditions and match circumstances today.
The good news for fans is that the tickets for May 28 will be valid for the reserve day and it is predicted to be a clear sky today with slight chances of rain.
It is expected to be mostly clear at 7:30 pm while some cloud cover is predicted around 8:30 pm. There are 15 percent chances of rain at 7:30 pm which goes up to 24 percent at 8:30 pm and persists till 10:30 pm. While the chances are slight, it can be enough to delay the game.
It is to be noted that no rain to slight rain was predicted for May 28 and the day got washed off. Fans might have to witness something similar today.
Who will win if reserve day is washed off?
It is not good news for CSK and MS Dhoni fans if the rain does not play today. In case, the match is abandoned with no possibility of play, Titans will be declared the winners of IPL 2023 as GT was ahead of CSK on the points table.
The game is set to begin at 7:30 pm in ideal conditions and in case it rains, no overs will be lost till 9:35 pm. The cut-off time for a 5-over game is 12:06 am and even if that is not possible, the winner will be decided by a super-over. The automatic declaration as per the points table is the last resort but is a possibility.
