The much-awaited Women’s Premier League is going to start from Saturday 4th March. All the teams have started preparing to give their best on the field. On Wednesday, Gujarat Giants posted a video on their Twitter handle, in which former India cricketer Mithali Raj was seen dancing to the popular Sri Lankan song ‘Manike Mage Hite’. Raj is offering his services to the franchisee as a mentor.

The video also features Indian fast bowlers Hurley Gala and Shabnam Shakeel along with Mithali. After the video went viral, the fans were disappointed that Mithali would no longer play cricket.
Earlier, Gujarat Giants on Monday announced ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 winner Beth Mooney as their captain for the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL 2023), ESPNCricinfo reported. Mooney leading the Giants in WPL 2023 marks her reunion with former Australian star Rachael Haynes, who is the head coach of the franchise Gujarat Giants. Also, India’s star all-rounder Sneh Rana has been chosen as the vice-captain.
Mooney, the first player in history to score two fifties in a T20 World Cup final, will lead a franchise as full-time captain in an overseas T20 tournament for the first time in her career. Beth Mooney’s unbeaten 74 helped Australia continue their dominance in women’s cricket as they beat South Africa by 19 runs to win the Women’s T20 World Cup for a record sixth time.
“I am delighted to have the opportunity to lead Adani Gujarat Giants in the inaugural edition of the historic Women’s Premier League in 2023,” Beth Mooney said in a statement.
