Sachin Tendulkar recreates ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ moment with Yuvraj, Kumble

Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar on Friday posted a picture with former cricketers Anil Kumble and Yuvraj Singh. He took to his Instagram handle and shared a picture.


“Our heart wants moments in Goa! Who do you think Akash, Sameer and Sid are?’, captioned Tendulkar. He mentioned an iconic Bollywood film called Dil Chahta Hai in which Aamir Khan, Akshaye Khanna and Saif Ali Khan played the roles of Akash, Sameer and Sid.

The trio of Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh and Anil Kumble have played a lot of cricket together for the Indian team. He was part of the Sourav Ganguly-led Indian team that marched to the 2003 World Cup final. Kumble retired when Yuvraj and Sachin lifted the World Cup trophy on home soil in 2011. The former wrist-spinner was the coach of IPL franchise Punjab Kings till last year.

Earlier, 10 years after Sachin retired from cricket, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has decided to install a life-size statue of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Not only did Tendulkar’s career start here, but he also won the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011 before playing his last match for the country at this stadium.

The development was confirmed in a report done by Indian Express. It is being told that the statue will be unveiled during the 2023 ODI World Cup in India.

Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) president Amol Kale told The Indian Express, “This will be the first statue at the Wankhede Stadium, we will decide where it will be placed.”

Notably, Tendulkar still holds several records in international cricket – be it most runs, centuries, half-centuries or performances in ODIs and Test matches. Starting his career as a teenager in 1989, the right-handed batsman played 463 ODIs besides 200 Test matches for the country, scoring 15,921 and 18,426 runs respectively. He scored a sensational 100 international hundreds, a record that is being chased by Virat Kohli.
