Usman Khawaja, Cameron Green To Restart, India Eye Early Wickets

Hello and welcome to ABP’s live coverage of the 4th Test between India and Australia. Steve Smith, Australia’s stand-in captain, won the toss on the first day and elected to bat first on a batting-friendly wicket without delay. Australia scored well 255/4 in Ahmedabad, Usman Khawaja scored a brilliant century. After batting all day, he returned to the changing room not out after scoring 104 runs.
Cameron Green also contributed in the middle order after scoring an unbeaten 49 off 64 balls and helping the visitors add 106 runs in the final session despite losing two early wickets.
Australia lost only two wickets in the first session but then sat wicket-keeping between lunch and tea. India, however, made a comeback after tea, picking up the wickets of Smith and Peter Handscomb at intervals. Speedster Mohammed Shami took 2 for 65 for India. Ravichandran Ashwin (1 for 57) and Ravindra Jadeja (1 for 49) were the troublemakers for the Indians on the first day.
Earlier, before the start of the Test match, both the Prime Ministers of India and Australia presented a special Test cap to the captains of India and Australia. This is the first official visit of the Australian PM to the country. The Indian team is leading 2-1 in the current series. But they will have to win this Test match to seal a place in the WTC final. The championship match will be played in London from June 7.
