Meanwhile, during the second session of Day 1 of the India vs Australia 3rd Test, India would be hoping that their lower-order batsmen add some crucial runs at the end of their first innings. The 35-year-old Umesh Yadav came out to bat and entertained the crowd in Indore by hitting two massive sixes off Australian spinners Nathan Lyon and Todd Murphy.
Umesh Yadav, who replaced Mohammed Shami in the India XI for the third Test, scored a 13-ball 17. By virtue of his two sixes, the senior pacer equaled Virat Kohli’s tally of sixes in Tests.
Virat Kohli has hit 24 sixes in his Test career so far – his teammate Umesh matched that tally by hitting two sixes in the Indore Test.

Umesh not only equaled Virat’s number of sixes in Tests, but also became the joint 17th highest six-hitter for India in Tests, surpassing Ravi Shastri’s tally of 22 sixes. Former India opener Virender Sehwag (91 sixes) holds the record for most sixes in Tests, followed by Dhoni (78), Sachin Tendulkar (69), Rohit Sharma (68) and Kapil Dev (61).
