6.9 magnitude earthquake hits New Zealand’s Kermadec Islands

A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck the Kermadec Islands in New Zealand on Saturday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said.
The USGS said the earthquake was at a depth of 152 km (94 mi).
The European Mediterranean Seismological Center had previously estimated a magnitude of 6.6 and a depth of 183 km.
The US Tsunami Warning System said no tsunami warnings were issued following the earthquake.
