G20 meet: Foreign ministers of China, Saudi Arabia, Spain arrive in India

The Foreign Ministers of Saudi Arabia, China, Indonesia, Spain and Croatia arrived in India on Thursday to participate in the G-20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting being held in New Delhi from March 1-2.

Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Alberes Bueno and Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlic Radman arrived in India on Thursday for the meeting.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), also arrived for the foreign minister’s meeting on Thursday.

FMs of Indonesia and Saudi Arabia. Raisina Will join in 2023 as well,” tweeted Arindam Bagchi, official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday.

UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in India on Wednesday to participate in the G20FMM.

“Welcome to India, FM Sameh Shoukry of Egypt @MfaEgypt, FM @ABZayed of UAE @MoFAICUAE and @SecBlinken of USA @StateDept. Looking forward to discussions at #G20FMM. @SecBlinken and FM Shoukry also at #Raisina2023 will participate.” External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said this in a tweet on Wednesday.

Earlier on Wednesday, Foreign Ministers of Canada, Argentina, Netherlands, Singapore and Bangladesh also reached Delhi for the meeting.

The G20FMM will be held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Center and around 40 delegations are expected to participate in the meeting.

This will be the second ministerial meeting to be held so far under the chairmanship of India. The first ministerial meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors was held in Bengaluru.

Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra said this is one of the largest gathering of foreign ministers organized by any G20 presidency. (ANI)
