A royal writer has claimed that King Charles wanted his wife Camilla to be recognized as Queen for years. Christopher Anderson, author of “The King: The Life of Charles III,” said, “For the past 18 years, I’ve been telling people that Camilla will be queen … as Charles promised when he reassured Queen Elizabeth was to allow him to marry his wife Longtime Mistress in 2005, not ‘Queen Consort’, a title that never actually existed.

“The king’s wife is his wife, of course, but she, too, is just a queen.” It amazes me how naive both the British press and public have been on this issue,” Christopher Anderson insisted.
The author added, “Charles never intended to fulfill his promise to the British people, who have always held a special place in their hearts for the woman he felt was his greatest – Princess Diana.”
Before her death, Queen Elizabeth celebrated the 70th anniversary of her reign in 2022 with Camilla’s support. At the time, the late monarch had expressed his “solemn wish” that Charles’s wife should be known as “Queen Consort” when her son was his successor.
When 75-year-old Camilla married Charles in 2005, it was assumed that she would no longer be known as Queen when 74-year-old Charles ascended the throne. King Charles has long made it clear that he wanted Camilla to be known as Queen.

“I reveal in my book that Charles relentlessly attacked the late queen for 17 years, pleading with her to support Camilla as queen and not just wife,” Christopher Anderson said. At the end of her life the Queen did just that quite reluctantly I am told, and it was a blow to Diana’s sons.”
“William and Harry … both genuinely believed that the King would honor their original vows in honor of their late mother. After all, it was Charles’ affair with Camilla that caused Diana so much heartache, their parents ended their marriage, and set in motion the chain of events that ultimately led to Diana’s death. Finally, Charles and Camilla got everything they always wanted,” Christopher Anderson alleged .
