Turkey earthquake caused more than $100 billion in damage: UN agency

A United Nations Development Program official told a press briefing on Tuesday that the devastating earthquake in Turkey would cause more than $100 billion in damage.
“The calculations so far make it clear that the loss figure presented by the government and supported by international partners … will exceed $100 billion,” said UNDP’s Luisa Vinton by video link from Gaziantep.
He said the provisional figures are being used as the basis for a donor conference on March 16 in Brussels, Belgium, to raise money for earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria.
